Welcome to the OpenOptix Wiki

Share, Learn, Collaborate, and Grow

Taking a cue from the MIT OpenCourseWare initiative and similar programs from other educational institutions, Laramy-K Optical is sponsoring OpenOptix, an initiative to encourage, develop, and host community driven, free and open optical education to improve optical care worldwide. The OpenOptix Wiki is a collaborative, optical industry encyclopedia, using the WikiMedia engine that allows anyone to contribute. We have 35 articles in English

  • You can remove scratches from 1.60 and 1.66 product by microwaving the lens in a bowl of water on high for 5 minutes. (Note: Allow to cool completely before removing lenses from water and please, don't microwave your AR coated lenses.)

Getting Started

The pilot project for OpenOptix is the Open ABO Study Guide. However, efforts to document all areas relating to the ophthalmic optical industry are welcome. These areas may include, but are not limited to progressive lenses, lens Category:Lens Manufacturers, lens Category:materials, and optical history.
